In the South hemisphere 32º to 38º exists one narrow strip extended between the parallel where are Argentina and Chile (America), South Africa (Africa), Australia and New Zealand (the Australian Continent).

REGIONS VITIVINICOLAS

In Mendoza, the Route of Vino is divided in four regions.

Region 1: Center-West In the neighborhoods of the City of Mendoza is a one important number of warehouses, related museums and historical places to the vitivinicultura. Region 4: Valley of Uco On the foot of the Mountain range of The $andes, the grapevine fields are between 900 and 1.200 msnm. It includes/understands the departments of Tupungato, Tunuyán and San Carlos. Here an important number of national and foreign warehouses has settled down, that produce wines of highest quality. The most outstanding warehouses, among others, are Lurton, Salentein and Frapes.

 

CELEBRATION OF the VENDIMIA

Is the main festividad of the Province of Mendoza. It is made during the first week of March from year 1936. The first attempt to organize a celebration of the grape occurred in 1913, when a congress of the industry and the commerce finalized with a nourished parade of vendimiadores and allegorical floats that crossed zones of vineyards and warehouses.

In 1963 the Celebration of the Vendimia acquires a definitive scene within the General Park San Martin, on the foot of the Hill of the Gloria, the Greek Theater Frank Romero Day. In him, the festejos with the presence of 21.000 spectators culminate, next to other so many that take, literally, the slopes of bordering hills.

The Central Act is the first Saturday of March. After a celebration in that are representative pictures of the mendocina life, it is chosen and it crowned to Reina Nacional of the Vendimia. On the following day, the spectacle is repeated. Artistic numbers of national hierarchy are added and an impressive fireworks game unfolds.

The White Route and the Merry-go-round are the festejos that more public concentrates in the streets. First it is a nocturnal parade of the departmental queens and its cut on the allegorical cars. The cars head the parade that present/display to the salient queen and virreina, continue with the invited national queens, and culminate with the departmental cars.

The second is a colorful parade of floats with the departmental queens and their cut who cross the main centric avenues, next to a parade of riders with typical atuendos. Also the countrymen with their mules march past, horses cars of load, harvests and carts, like symbol of the rural work and the passage in 1817 of the Army of the $andes by the mountain range.
